Welcome to music city! Home of bachelorette/bachelor parties, 21st birthday parties, and more. We went about 2 weeks ago with 3 other couples for a weekend getaway and had a great time! I am in no way a Nashville “pro” (this is only the 2nd time I’ve ever been!) but will share what we did if you’re planning on going someday and need some ideas!
I’ll start off by apologizing since this blog post is a bit later than I intended it to be; not only have I had some laptop issues but in case ya’ll haven’t noticed, the world is in a bit of chaos! The Coronavirus (Covid-19) has pretty well thrown the entire planet into a state of panic. This global pandemic has claimed the lives of over 13,000 people, and over 300,000 people have tested positive. Not only this, but as an ER nurse, I can unfortunately say the US is NOT prepared for the number of patients we are about to see. Each day is getting worse. We are almost out of surgical and N95 masks and other supplies; it’s getting scary. If you can, I urge you to donate masks if you have any or sew your local hospital some as many others are. They will definitely appreciate it! I also recommend staying home as much as possible to help flatten the curve. Wash your hands and try to keep your immune system strong! And pray for your healthcare workers! I’m hoping this all passes soon so we can get back to normal ASAP…I was supposed to go to Germany at the beginning of April to visit a friend and sadly that trip has been postponed 🙁
I’m sure everyone is tired about the news talking about it, so that’s all I’ll say. Back to Nashville!
Nashville actually had a recent catastrophe too; an E-3 tornado that unfortunately claimed several lives and left others without a home. One of those is a friend of mine, Nicole Ealy, who I used to work with! She’s such as awesome person and it would help her a lot of you can donate anything – her PayPal name is NicoleEaly. If you would also like to donate to Nashville in general, a good place to start is visitmusiccity.com.
FRIDAY
We started off our trip around noon on a Friday; we loaded up my jeep and made the 3-4 hour drive there! We chose to stay in an Airbnb and had booked this one several weeks in advance; it sleeps 10 people and is very spacious, in a great neighborhood, and a short Uber ride into town! If you’re new to Airbnb you can use my link to get up to $55 off your first stay!
Night one we went to Coyote Ugly, Honky Tonk, and Paradise Park. Coyote Ugly is actually on a side street from Broadway instead of being on the main road, and personally I was not a fan. The other two I liked though; Paradise Park even had $6 pitchers of beer! I especially love bars with live music.
We ended up getting hungry so we stopped and got some pizza at Luigi’s City Pizza – I highly recommend it, it was delicious! After this we went home a bit early, ready for the next day!
SATURDAY
We slept in a bit the next day and decided to eat brunch at a nearby place called Metro Diner, which was absolutely delicious and had a fun atmosphere! I got my go-to; chocolate chip pancakes, scrambled eggs, and biscuits and gravy. YUM! We then went to the Opryland Mills Mall and shopped ‘til we dropped. I found great deals at Vera Bradley, Levi’s, and H&M!
After this, I’ll admit, I became a total Instagram girl…I waited in line at the Gulch to get my picture with the wings. I know, I know, seems pretty silly…but I had always wanted to do it! Thankfully my friend Ashlee was willing to wait in line with me! I would have loved to walk around more because it seemed like a really neat area but it was cold, starting to get late, and we only had 1 hour of free parking.
We headed back to the Airbnb and got ready to go out again. We actually called the same Uber driver because we loved her so much! If you’re looking for a great driver you can trust, message me ahead of time and I’ll give you her number!
This night we went to Dierks Bentley Whiskey Row, then went to a place right next to Paradise Park to eat supper. I think it was called Downtown Sporting Club and is supposedly fairly new and I’ll be honest, I could’ve spent all night here! They had great food, cheap drinks, fun games, and axe throwing!! We didn’t get to throw axes but definitely will next time we go. Overall a really fun atmosphere!
We finished off the night by going to Tin Roof and then I had to check something off my bucket list…karaoke! I am not a good singer but gave it a try anyway at Wannabe’s bar. I will NOT be sharing the video (your ears might bleed and I might die of embarrassment!), but I sang “Party in the USA” by Miley Cyrus after a few shots and let’s just say, I was having a great time! Thankful for my group of girls Ashlee, Taylor, and Destiny who were my biggest fans and danced in front of the stage the whole time!
Sunday morning, we loaded back up and headed home. It was a fun weekend with great friends, and we hope to make it a yearly tradition to get together like this! I hope this gives you some ideas of what to do if you go! Have you ever been to Nashville or do you have any other recommendations? Share them in the comments below! Thanks for reading!
In the future I’d like to visit Top Golf, check out more bars, and visit the antique mall!
